General Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), is on a four-day official visit to China.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that the purpose of the visit is to bolster bilateral military ties between the two countries without giving further details.
This trip marks General Munir’s fourth international visit since taking command of the Pakistan Army. In January, he embarked on his first overseas tour as army chief, visiting Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
While in Saudi Arabia, General Munir met with Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman and discussed ways to improve bilateral relations between their countries.
Following his visit to Saudi Arabia, he traveled to the UAE, where he held talks with President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on defense and military cooperation. The two leaders also explored strategies to advance military affairs to serve the mutual interests of both nations.
A month later, General Munir went to the United Kingdom at the invitation of the British Ministry of Defence to discuss security-related strategic matters. After his UK visit, General Munir returned to the UAE for further discussions with the president.
