During his speech at the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Asghar Khan Academy in Risalpur, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir confirmed the military’s respect for its constitutional limits and expected the same from others. Speaking at the cadet passing-out parade, he emphasized the importance of adhering to the Constitution.
General Munir highlighted Article 19, which sets boundaries for freedom of speech and expression. He noted that violating these limits undermines the authority to critique others.
He commended the PAF for consistently meeting national expectations and stressed that a robust air force is crucial for defending against aggressors. He praised their professionalism during the 2019 incident when they downed an intruding Indian aircraft.
Addressing the cadets, he said, “You are our hope and the protectors of our skies, crucial for maintaining regional unity.” He outlined that the cadets are expected to demonstrate exemplary character, courage, and competence, reflecting positively on themselves and their institution.
“You will always be ready to sacrifice for the nation’s defence, honour, and dignity,” he asserted, urging them always to embody the nation’s highest ideals of bravery and professional excellence.
General Munir also invoked the legacy of national heroes like Rashid Minhas, Sarfraz Rafiqui, and M.M. Alam, urging cadets to emulate their dedication to protecting national dignity. He encouraged them to remain steadfast in their duties and loyal to Pakistan.
Furthermore, General Munir discussed the ongoing conflict in Gaza, highlighting the tragic human cost and using it as an example of the harsh realities of war. He also addressed the situation in India-occupied Kashmir, criticizing the global inaction over the ongoing aggression and reaffirming Pakistan’s support for the Kashmiri cause.
