Once a promising figure in cricket, former Sri Lankan cricketer Hewa Kaluhalamullage Suraj Randiv Kaluhalamulla now works as a bus driver following his retirement from the sport.
Suraj Randiv, a spinner who took part in 50 international games spanning Test, ODI and T20I formats, was a crucial player in the Sri Lankan team that made it to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 final. His cricketing career boasts 86 international wickets and 435 runs.
Unlike most retired cricketers who typically stay involved with the sport, taking up roles such as coaches for international and domestic teams or commentators and analysts for sports shows and channels, Randiv’s path diverged significantly.
After he departed from cricket, Randiv relocated to Australia and took on a new role as a bus driver with Melbourne-based company, Transdev. Notably, he isn’t the only former cricketer working for the company – his compatriot Chinthaka Jayasinghe and Zimbabwean cricketer Waddington Mwayenga are also employed there.
