French President Emmanuel Macron formally announced France’s recognition of the State of Palestine during a United Nations summit on Monday, September 22, 2025. This historic moment marks the first time France has officially recognized Palestine. France recognizes Palestine after years of diplomatic discussions about the recognition.

Speaking before the General Assembly in New York, Macron said the move is intended to strengthen peace efforts between Israelis and Palestinians. His remarks prompted applause from the Palestinian delegation. France recognizes Palestine, aligning with its commitment to international diplomacy.

Macron underscored the global responsibility to preserve the two-state solution. “France today recognizes the State of Palestine. This is the very reason we must pave the way for peace,” he declared. The French leader urged the international community to intensify efforts to turn the long-discussed two-state framework into reality. This comes amid ongoing regional tensions. France’s recognition of Palestine adds new hope for peace by showing how France recognizes the importance of a two-state solution.
