Former Test cricketer and ex-Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, Ijaz Butt, sadly passed away at 85 in Lahore on Thursday.
The cricket board expressed deep sorrow over Butt’s passing, sending sincere condolences to his loved ones. In a heartfelt statement, Zaka Ashraf, the PCB Management Committee Chairperson, commemorated Butt, saying, “I was fortunate to know him personally, and I hold nothing but the highest respect for him.”
Ashraf extended his deepest sympathies to Ijaz Butt’s family and friends and reassured them that Butt’s significant contributions to Pakistani cricket would never be forgotten.
Butt, a former Test wicket-keeper/batsman, participated in eight Test matches for Pakistan. From 2008 to 2011, he presided as the PCB chief, leading the cricket team to victory in the ICC T20 World Cup 2009.
