Former Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Senator Muhammad Ali Brohi along with several other dissidents earlier today joined former Karachi mayor Mustafa Kamal’s Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP).
“The way people of Sindh are becoming a part of the fold, time is near when this province will be purged of enmities,” Kamal said during a press conference as he welcomed the former MQM lawmaker in his party.
Brohi was the party’s senator from 2004 to 2009 and won by-elections for the Senate seat that had fallen vacant after the death of former MMA’s leader Maulana Shah Ahmed Noorani.
“I especially want to caution my Sindhi brethren to not take Altaf Hussain’s speeches seriously wherein he [MQM chief] puts in place demands, including new provinces, and plays the ‘Mohajir’ card at other instances,” Kamal said.
“However, when he gets hold of the ministries, he shuns his demands. In the process, the hate he sows makes people of the province vulnerable. He does not realise how many changes his one speech brings to the lives of the people,” he added.
Kamal went on to add that his party will take its message to every door in Pakistan and resolve differences among people. “We want to hand over pens in the hands of the future generations. We want to establish a society bearing tolerance and patience.”
Speaking on the occasion, Brohi said “We witnessed a rift between the Urdu-speaking community and the people of Sindh as a conspiracy to destroy people through ethnic differences and create enmities between people who knew each other as brothers.”
The former MQM senator invited people belonging to all ethnic groups to join hands with Kamal. “Our entire generations were destroyed and we were labelled as agents of RAW for own vested interests. Mr Altaf Hussain, let me tell you that you destroyed these generations and made them agents of RAW for your own interests.”
Later, Kamal announced that his party was going to organise a political gathering on April 24. “I hereby welcome the new zonal committee members. I am also giving you the good news that we are soon going to inaugurate several offices in Sindh including Karachi. Wherever we go we will inaugurate offices and task people with responsibilities,” he said.
Since Kamal’s return to the country on March 3, he and Anis Kaimkhani, another MQM dissident, have been holding press conferences every Monday and Thursday in which former MQM leaders, senior members and sitting MPAs have made announcements to join Kamal’s party while lashing out at MQM chief.
