Alondra Mercado Campos, a 22-year-old former Miss Bolivia Mundo 2020 and Miss Charm Bolivia 2023, also known as Alondra MC, is detained at Trinidad Women’s Prison in Beni, Bolivia. Her arrest centres around grave allegations of arms trafficking, along with an investigation into a drug case involving her fugitive boyfriend.
The situation began to unfold a month after Bolivia’s Special Force to Fight Drug Trafficking (FLECN) raided the condominium shared by Mercado Campos and her boyfriend, Andres Vasquez, leading to the discovery of approximately 100 firearms, including AK-47 assault rifles and ammunition.
During a recent court session, the judge considered Mercado Campos a flight risk, resulting in her pre-trial detention for 30 days. The ongoing legal process has brought to light potential involvement in drug trafficking, with forensic tests pending on her BMW SUV to determine if additional drug-related charges are warranted.
The departmental prosecutor of Beni, Gerardo Balderas, revealed unsettling evidence from Mercado Campos’ cellphone, including videos of her and Vasquez partying with the weapons confiscated during the November raid. This evidence suggests a possible connection between the former beauty queen and a drug-trafficking operation led by her boyfriend.
The case has caused a stir in the community, contrasting sharply with Mercado Campos’s glamorous image on social media, including posts of her in bikinis and evening gowns. Now, she confronts the stark reality of facing serious charges and potential imprisonment.
