Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari landed in Tokyo today for a four-day official visit per the Japanese government’s invitation. The Pakistani ambassador to Japan, Japanese foreign ministry representatives, and Pakistani community members in Tokyo greeted him upon arrival, as the Foreign Office (FO) reported.
The FO highlighted that Bilawal’s visit symbolizes the rejuvenation of leadership interactions between Pakistan and Japan after a noticeable break. Bilawal is slated for delegation-level discussions with his Japanese counterpart, Yoshimasa Hayashi, and meetings with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and National Security Adviser Takeo Akiba.
Bilawal will also engage with high-ranking officials and heads of influential businesses and organizations associated with the import of Pakistani labour to Japan. Moreover, he’s scheduled to deliver a speech at Japan’s think tank, the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI).
The FO reiterated the enduring, cordial relations between Pakistan and Japan, underscored by shared perspectives. Bilawal’s visit follows Foreign Secretary Dr Asad Majeed Khan’s recent bilateral political consultations with his Japanese counterpart, Shigeo Yamada.
