The Top 10 richest people March 2026 ranking shows minimal movement at the top, but one billionaire continues to widen his historic lead.
After a volatile start to the year, only two names swapped places in February. Warren Buffett rose to No. 9, while Zara cofounder Amancio Ortega slipped to No. 10. Both were among just four members of the top 10 who added to their fortunes last month.
Top 10 Richest People March 2026
Elon Musk was by far the biggest gainer. He added $64 billion in February alone and more than $100 billion since the beginning of the year.
His net worth was estimated at $839 billion as of March 1, according to Forbes. Over the past year, Musk crossed multiple milestones, including becoming the first person to surpass $500 billion, $600 billion, $700 billion and now $800 billion.
He now leads the second-richest person in the world by more than half a trillion dollars.
Tech Billionaires See Mixed Results
Larry Page remained in second place for the fourth straight month, despite losing $20 billion. His net worth is estimated at $257 billion.
Jeff Bezos recorded the largest loss among the top 10. A 12% drop in Amazon shares reduced his fortune by $26 billion, bringing it to an estimated $224 billion.
Several other American tech leaders also saw declines as shares of Alphabet, Amazon, Meta and Oracle slipped during the month.
Despite market fluctuations, the combined wealth of the world’s 10 richest people remains approximately $2.6 trillion roughly unchanged from last month.
What Could Change the Rankings?
One major upcoming event that could impact the rankings is SpaceX’s expected IPO later this year. Analysts suggest it may significantly influence Musk’s net worth, depending on market conditions.
Forbes has tracked the world’s billionaires since 1987. In its most recent annual list, it identified 3,028 billionaires worldwide.
