Apple is expected to announce the launch of its highly anticipated foldable iPhone in late 2026, marking a significant milestone in smartphone innovation.
The tech giant’s decision to incorporate liquid metal technology into the production process will benefit Yi’an Technology, a key supplier, and has sparked growing excitement around the project.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently shared details about Yi’an Technology being selected to supply liquid metal for hinges in upcoming devices. This material is particularly strong, making it ideal for folding phones. It helps reduce creases and enhances durability. Kuo also suggests that other brands might adopt this technology in the future.

Yi’an is already deep into business with Apple, having supplied them with 10 million hinge shafts last year. Thanks to their die-casting capabilities, they have become the primary supplier of this technology. According to Kuo’s predictions, Revenue could soar to CNY 2 billion, representing a 200% growth. Apple is making a significant investment in this area.

The foldable iPhone is starting to take shape. With its short and thick design, it resembles the Oppo Find N. It features a 5.49-inch cover screen and a 7.74-inch inner display. While Apple has used liquid metal in some products, like SIM ejectors, this upcoming foldable iPhone has the potential to change the game when it launches, possibly by 2026.
