Flood warnings after heavy rains hit Punjab, Kashmir

Widespread thundershowers with scattered heavy falls are expected over upper catchments of Rivers Chenab, Jhelum, Ravi and Sutlej along with Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Lahore, Gujranwala and Faisalabad.

Scattered thundershowers with Isolated heavy falls are also expected over Rawalpindi division alongwith Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and southeast Sindh, during next 24 hours.

However, the wet spell is likely to decrease after 48 hours, stated Met report on Thursday.

A trough of westerly wave over northern parts of the country now lies over Kashmir and its adjoining areas. Strong moist current from Bay of Bangal is penetrating into Punjab and Kashmir upto 5000 feet. A seasonal low lies over northwest Balochistan. (APP).
