The auction ceremony for two new franchises of the Pakistan Super League officially got underway on Saturday, marking a major milestone in the league’s expansion. Nine companies entered the bidding process for the two new teams.
FKS emerged as the successful bidder for the seventh PSL franchise, securing the team for Rs175 crore. The company selected Hyderabad as the home city for the new franchise.
Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board had set the base price for each new team at Rs110 crore, with bidding to open from that figure. The strong final bid highlighted growing commercial interest in the league.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi attended the auction ceremony as the chief guest. Federal ministers Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and Ata Tarar, along with State Minister Talal Chaudhry, were also present.

The event also honoured Pakistan’s recent cricketing success. The winning Pakistan Shaheens team from the Rising Asia Cup and the victorious Pakistan side from the Hong Kong Super Sixes were invited as special guests.
Chairman Mohsin Naqvi presented awards to both champion teams. The Hong Kong Super Sixes winners received a prize of Rs1.85 crore, while the Pakistan Shaheens were awarded Rs9 crore for winning the Rising Asia Cup.
