The FJMU hostel student fall investigation is underway after a final-year MBBS student died from injuries sustained in a fall from the third floor of a hostel at Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU) in Lahore.
According to the Superintendent of Police (SP) Civil Lines, authorities have launched a formal inquiry to determine the exact circumstances of the incident. Investigators are examining all possibilities, including accidental fall, foul play, or suicide.
University officials said the student, who was from Azad Kashmir, had been walking on the hostel rooftop when she reportedly felt dizzy and fell over the boundary wall onto the concrete floor below.
The administration rushed her to the emergency department at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. The university registrar stated that medical treatment began immediately after the incident was reported.

The incident comes amid broader concerns about student safety. Earlier in January, a female student at a private university in Lahore suffered critical injuries after jumping from a second-floor building. Authorities described it as her second suicide attempt in two weeks.
In December 2025, another student from the same university died after falling from the fourth floor. Police said she had called her family shortly before the incident and was reviewing her last phone conversation. Officials have not yet released further details in the current case. The investigation remains ongoing.
