A fire caused by a short circuit ignited in the private ward of Dow University Hospital OJHA campus near Karachi’s Safoora Goth area.
According to rescue sources, the hospital administration evacuated patients and attendants from the affected ward following the outbreak. A fire brigade responded swiftly, arriving on the scene to extinguish the blaze.
Rescue teams subsequently removed a burnt bed from the hospital premises. The source of the fire was identified as a short circuit on the ground floor.
Earlier this year, in February, a fire at Sindh Government Hospital Liaquatabad’s emergency centre resulted in burn injuries to seven individuals. Reports indicate that four of these individuals are critically injured, with two suffering from burns covering 100 per cent of their bodies.
The Bomb Disposal Squad also attributed the Liaquatabad Hospital fire to a short circuit, noting that it occurred in a densely populated area of Karachi. The victims were immediately transported to another hospital for urgent care, while smoke from the fire caused significant discomfort for other patients and attendants.
