The month-long pre-Hajj flight operation, which began on May 9 to transport around 70,105 pilgrims from Pakistan to Madinah and Makkah, concludes today.
The final flight, SV-3727 of Saudi Airlines, carrying 380 passengers, is set to arrive at King Abdulaziz International Airport Jeddah this morning after departing Islamabad at 3 am (PST).
This year, 160,000 Pakistani pilgrims are expected to perform the Hajj. Of these, 70,000 are part of the government scheme, with the remaining 90,000 travelling through private Hajj group organizers. To date, 63,321 pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia via the private scheme, with more expected before June 14.
Saudi authorities have completed preparations for the 2024 Hajj, expecting over 1.9 million pilgrims globally. Yesterday, Makkah Deputy Governor Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Abdulaziz toured Jeddah airport, inspecting facilities including passport counters, customs areas, and the health centre.
In Madina, arrangements at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque are complete. Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Sudais announced initiatives to enrich pilgrims’ experiences, highlighting the distribution of 1 million translated copies of the holy Quran.
