The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has released a passenger detained for carrying 49 passports after providing legal documentation justifying his possession.
Muhammad Adnan, a travel agent travelling from Karachi to Iran via Dubai, was stopped and detained at Karachi Airport when FIA officials discovered he was carrying 49 Pakistani passports.
Upon investigation, Adnan presented a permit from the Ministry of Finance and other legal documents explaining that the passports would be used to obtain Georgian visas. Due to the absence of a Georgian embassy in Pakistan, it is common for Pakistani citizens to send their passports to nearby countries where visa processing is possible.
Adnan explained that he intended to transport these passports to Iran, where he would submit them to the Georgian embassy in Tehran for visa processing. Once the visas were issued, the passports would be retrieved and returned to Pakistan’s respective owners.
Following the presentation of necessary permits from the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Iranian embassy, the FIA released Muhammad Adnan. However, the agency has initiated a verification process with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to confirm the validity of the presented permit. Depending on the outcome, Adnan may be allowed to continue his travels or face further detention and potential legal action if the permit is invalid.
