The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has declared February 8 a public holiday to facilitate voter participation in the general elections. Offices and educational institutions nationwide will close, ensuring widespread access to polling stations from 8 am to 6 pm.
Polling Infrastructure and Voter Support
The ECP detailed the nationwide setup of 90,675 polling stations, including gender-specific and joint station provisions, to accommodate over 128 million eligible voters. Special attention is given to Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan, with 276,402 polling booths ready for election day.
The ECP has introduced a WhatsApp helpline to enhance voter assistance, especially for those with speech and hearing impairments. This service, part of the Election Monitoring and Complaint Centre, offers a direct channel for addressing electoral inquiries and complaints, email, and a dedicated phone line for broader access.
