The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) widened the investigation scope and added three more income tax officers to its inquiry into the leak of tax records of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa and his family.
According to sources, the FBR will investigate the chief commissioner, commissioner, and extra commissioner about the stolen tax record information of General Bajwa and his family. All these three officials will also be terminated as they share equal responsibility for the leak of these tax records.
The leaked tax information was retrieved from the logon of the deputy commissioner of Lahore, and then images were taken from the deputy commissioner’s computer, according to sources.
In addition, two deputy commissioners of the department of land revenue and fifteen FBR personnel have been examined in relation to the leaked tax record.
According to different sources, the forensic study suggests that the plot was developed on these officials’ laptops and mobile phones. Atif and Zahoor Ahmed, two deputy commissioners, are also arrested by the FBR investigating team.
