The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has taken decisive action against 27 corrupt officers, all of whom held 20th-grade positions.
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) launched a stringent crackdown on corruption, reassigning senior officers to the administrative pool and reducing their responsibilities. These officers include the Inland Revenue Service and Pakistan Customs Service.
FBR’s move came after an internal review exposed corrupt practices among departmental officers before the budget approval. Although the FBR had compiled lists detailing these corrupt activities, it did not take action against the implicated officers during the budget preparation phase or inform them of any pending investigations.

This action marks the second significant restructuring within the FBR in the last two months. Before this, right before Eid, the FBR had taken disciplinary action against a Deputy Commissioner, an inspector, and two other staff members for misconduct related to the mishandling of refund cases amounting to over 800 million rupees, resulting in their suspension.
