The war in the Middle East has fuelled uncertainty about security in the US and globally, as the conflict has intensified for more than two weeks and caused thousands of casualties and extensive damage to civilian and military infrastructure in Iran.
Against that backdrop, the FBI warns of an Oscar Drone Threat as authorities prepare for the Academy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles this weekend, according to a report aired on La Sexta’s program Más Vale Tarde.
On Más Vale Tarde, presenters Iñaki López and Cristina Pardo spoke with Los Angeles-based correspondent Maria Estevez, who described heightened security measures around the Oscars venue.

The Army is offering $5,000 for information.
The FBI warned of a potential Iranian drone attack on the West Coast just yesterday and the internet is doing what the internet does:

Estevez said authorities will close the airspace to reduce the risk of drone activity. She reported that the FBI considers a possible drone attack a “credible” threat for the day of the event.
Expanded Perimeter And Increased Surveillance
Estevez said federal agents and the Los Angeles Police Department are operating under a “tied and ready” posture during preparations.
She also reported that officials have widened the security perimeter compared with previous years. The plan includes reinforced access points and increased surveillance around the ceremony site.
Estevez said authorities feel “a lot of concern,” and she linked it to broader tensions and security risks, including what she described as a recent attack on a synagogue in Michigan.
In the same discussion, Estevez referenced remarks attributed to former President Donald Trump, noting that he said he “believes” he has terrorist cells under control. She added that, in her assessment, he does not have them under control.
