Fatima Bhutto, renowned author and granddaughter of the former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, joyfully announced the birth of her son, Mir Murtaza Byra, on Saturday.
Through her X account, Bhutto and her husband Graham expressed their delight: “Graham and I are thrilled to announce our baby boy’s arrival.”
In a heartfelt social media post, Bhutto delved into the significance behind her son’s name, aiming to endow him with courage and compassion. She aspired for a name that would serve as both inspiration and a shield of love and strength, embodying grace and bravery. “It was important that his name reflects a connection to his heritage and brings joy,” she explained, ultimately finding that her father’s name resonated with these qualities.
Expressing her thoughts on the naming process, Bhutto shared, “My father’s name always emerged as the one that fulfilled these criteria.”
She also invited her followers to pray for her family during this joyous period.
Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Junior, Fatima’s brother, echoed the Instagram announcement, celebrating Mir Murtaza Byra’s arrival. “His presence brings a new light to our house and adds a beautiful spirit to our legacy,” Zulfikar stated, asking for prayers for their family.
Fatima Bhutto married Graham in a private Nikkah ceremony at their ancestral home in Karachi on April 27, 2023, with the news shared by Zulfikar and a photo of the couple on Instagram. “In a ceremony held in our grandfather’s library, a place deeply significant to Fatima, we celebrated surrounded by close family and friends,” he remarked, inviting well-wishes for the newly expanded family.
