Earlier this week an accountability court in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) sent five government employees to prison for various durations on charges of getting promotions on the basis of fake documents.

The Mirpur court, while announcing the judgment on a reference of corruption in the AJK Education Department, ordered eight years imprisonment and Rs200,000 fine to each of the three accused.

According to the prosecution, the accused managed to get promotion in the education department by using fake notification of the Public Service Commission from junior teacher to senior science teacher.

They were sent to jail after the decision was announced. The court, on the same reference, ordered an imprisonment of five years and fine of Rs100,000 each to two other employees of the same department who got promoted to junior technical teachers from the post of primary teachers on bogus notifications.
