Like many other cities across Pakistan, Faisalabad is experiencing a steady rise in chicken and egg prices, putting additional pressure on household budgets.
According to the latest market data, broiler chicken meat now sells for Rs 670 per kilogram. Cleaned chicken meat has crossed a record level and is priced above Rs750 per kilogram, reflecting sharp inflation in the poultry sector.
Rates for live broiler chicken have also climbed. Prices are Rs 383 per kilogram at the farm level, Rs 397 in the wholesale market, and Rs 411 at retail outlets.
Egg prices have followed the same upward trend. Farm eggs now sell for around Rs 360 per dozen, further limiting affordable protein options for consumers.
The surge in prices of staple food items such as chicken and eggs has made it harder for low- and middle-income families to manage daily expenses. Many residents say the rising costs have become a serious social concern, especially as food inflation shows little sign of easing.

Poultry traders attribute the increase to lower production, shortages in poultry feed, and higher operational costs. They warn that if these pressures persist, prices could rise further in the coming weeks.
Economists say continued increases in essential food prices may deepen inflationary stress and reduce access to basic nutrition. Without timely intervention, consumers could face even greater difficulty securing affordable chicken and eggs in the near future.
