Former Federal Minister Faisal Vawda has predicted the outcome of the 2024 General Elections and the distribution of seats in the National Assembly.
During a special transmission on the local news channel ARY News, Vawda predicts an unexpected outcome in the elections, suggesting that no political party will achieve a majority in the 342-seat National Assembly. He believes this scenario will prevent any single party from forming a government independently.
According to Vawda, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is poised to emerge as the largest party, securing between 80 to 100 seats. He positions the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) as the second largest, with an estimated 50 to 70 seats. Vawda highlights the significant role of independent candidates in this election, anticipating them to win many seats and potentially act as ‘kingmakers.’
Vawda also provided predictions for other political entities, foreseeing the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) capturing eight to 13 seats in urban Sindh areas. He expects the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, led by Moulana Fazalur Rehman, to secure nine to 12 seats from its strongholds.
Additionally, Vawda speculates that the newly established Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party could gain three to five constituencies.
He anticipates a coalition government between the PML-N and the PPP at the centre. Vawda conjectures that should the PML-N attempt to govern without PPP support, such a government would likely last only 11 to 13 months.
