Faisal Vawda has formally responded to the Supreme Court concerning a contempt of court notice.
In his submission, Vawda declined to present an unconditional apology and requested that the court exhibit patience, withdraw the notice, and cease the contempt proceedings.
In his formal response to the Supreme Court, Senator Faisal Vawda requested the judiciary demonstrate restraint by halting the advancement of contempt proceedings against him and considering withdrawing the notice of contempt previously issued.
Alongside his request, Vawda submitted transcripts of speeches by PTI’s Raoof Hassan, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as part of his defence documentation.
The Supreme Court had earlier issued contempt notices to both Faisal Vawda and MQM-Pakistan MNA Mustafa Kamal following public comments perceived as critical of the judiciary. These remarks were part of wider statements demanding proof of alleged judicial interference made during press conferences.
Specifically, Vawda had challenged Islamabad High Court (IHC) Judge Babar Sattar to provide evidence of such interference and called on the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) to act upon these claims.
