Pakistan all-rounder Faheem Ashraf produced a match-winning spell to lead Rangpur Riders to a commanding eight-wicket victory over Chattogram Royals in the fifth match of the Bangladesh Premier League on Monday.
Chattogram, sent in to bat, struggled from the outset and collapsed for 102 in 17.5 overs. Opener Mohammad Naim offered brief resistance with a rapid 39 off 20 balls, hitting seven fours and a six. Mirza Baig added 20 from 24 deliveries, but the rest of the lineup failed to cope with Rangpur’s disciplined attack.

Faheem tore through the middle and lower order, finishing with outstanding figures of 5 for 17 in 3.5 overs. Mustafizur Rahman backed him up with two wickets, while Nahid Rana, Al Islam, and Sufiyan Muqeem claimed one apiece. The pressure never eased, and Chattogram could not recover.
Rangpur then asserted control with the bat. Openers Dawid Malan and Litton Das stitched together a fluent 91-run partnership that settled the chase early. Litton scored 47 from 31 balls with four fours and two sixes, while Malan anchored the innings with a composed 51 off 48 deliveries, including five boundaries and two sixes.

Mukidul Islam briefly revived Chattogram’s hopes with 2 for 5 in two overs, but Rangpur stayed in command. Khushdil Shah and Mahmudullah finished calmly, guiding the Riders home in 15 overs.
The emphatic win underlined Rangpur’s balance and bowling depth, with Faheem’s five-wicket haul setting the tone for a dominant all-round performance.
