Rebecca Francis, a 62-year-old Formula 1 enthusiast and grandmother from Ascot, UK, won a £250,000 McLaren Artura Spider in a £10 Omaze prize draw, as reported by The Daily Mail. Despite her passion for fast cars, Francis plans to sell the 200mph supercar to secure her family’s financial future, opting not to drive like F1 star Max Verstappen.
Francis, a part-time lifestyle practitioner, entered the Omaze Million Pound House Draw for the first time and clinched the early bird prize. “I felt like Lando Norris,” she told The Standard after test-driving the McLaren with Hollywood stunt driver Tessa Whittock. The convertible, capable of 0-62mph in three seconds, features a retractable hardtop and luxurious Nappa leather interior, valued at over £250,000, per Omaze UK.

Despite her love for F1, Francis chose to sell the car, stating, “The money from the sale is life-changing for my family.” With two grandchildren, she plans to support her children, spoil her grandkids, and ensure a comfortable retirement. “I can travel in style to see my son in Canada,” she added, highlighting the financial freedom the sale will provide.
The draw raised £3.7 million for Anthony Nolan, funding stem cell transplant facilities. Since 2020, Omaze has raised over £100 million for UK charities, per National World. Francis expressed excitement about future Omaze entries, hoping to win a £3 million Cornwall home.
Francis’ win coincides with McLaren’s F1 success, marking their 200th Grand Prix victory in 2025, per Destination Formula 1. Her decision to prioritise family over driving reflects a practical approach, resonating with fans who admire her grounded choice.
