The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Health warned Hajj pilgrims about expected high temperatures during this year’s pilgrimage.
Temperatures could reach as high as 72 degrees Celsius in some mountainous areas of the Holy Sites, presenting severe health risks to pilgrims.
The Ministry highlighted the dangers of extended sunlight exposure as the most significant challenge for this Hajj season. It advised pilgrims to use umbrellas to protect themselves from the sun and to stay hydrated by drinking water regularly.
Pilgrims are also encouraged to avoid being outdoors, especially in direct sunlight, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., when temperatures peak.
“This year’s Hajj season in Makkah presents unique challenges due to exceptionally high temperatures,” a Ministry spokesperson said. “Our priority is the safety and well-being of all pilgrims, and we urge them to follow our recommendations closely to mitigate any health risks.”
The Ministry has introduced these precautions to help pilgrims safely complete their religious duties despite the harsh weather. Officials closely monitor the situation, providing ongoing updates and support to pilgrims.
Pilgrims should keep informed about weather conditions and follow all health guidelines from the Ministry for a safe Hajj experience.
