Investigation Launched After Expired Injections Administered to Cancer Patients at Mayo Hospital
An investigation has been initiated at Mayo Hospital in Lahore following reports that cancer patients were given expired injections. The hospital’s Chief Executive Officer has ordered a thorough inquiry into the incident to determine the circumstances that led to this serious oversight.
Sources within the hospital have disclosed that the storekeepers, identified as Sarfaraz and Shehzad, were immediately suspended after it was discovered that expired injections had been stored and subsequently administered.
In response, a dedicated inquiry committee has been established. This committee is tasked with swiftly gathering facts and formulating recommendations to prevent such incidents in the future.
The hospital’s CEO emphasized that, fortunately, none affected cancer patients have exhibited adverse reactions thus far. Nonetheless, as a precaution, these patients are currently under close observation in the relevant hospital ward. Based on the findings and recommendations of the inquiry committee, further legal actions will be considered to address and rectify the breakdown in protocol that allowed this lapse in patient care.
