The army’s public relations wing ensured that the due legal process was followed. It stated the court martial complied with all legal provisions. The accused was afforded full legal rights throughout the trial. This included the right to a defence team of his personal choice.
The convict retains the right to appeal the verdict. He can challenge the sentence at the relevant appellate forum. The ISPR noted separate, ongoing investigations into Hameed’s wider activities.
These investigations focus on fomenting political agitation and instability. The probe examines his alleged collusion with political elements. It specifically includes events leading up to the May 9, 2023, incidents.
