The main accused involved in the sexual assault and rape of a dancing girl turned out to be a former MP of the Afghan parliament.

Police officers investigating the dancer rape case recovered documents from the suspect’s residence in Hayatabad Phase II, indicating that the man was former member of the Wolesi Jirga, the lower house of the Afghan parliament.

SSP Operation Abbas Majeed Marwat said that according to initial investigations, Sher Ali had invited the dancer for a musical evening at his residence and then raped her. Marwat said police have recovered Afghan parliament’s membership card and a Pakistani CNIC as well as Afghan passport from Sher Ali’s house. The Wolesi Jirga card bears expiry date of November 22, 2015, he said.

ASP Hayatabad Hasan Afzal said that it would be considered a physical torture charge until the medical report confirms rape.
