Images of ‘The Boys’ actress Erin Moriarty sparked online speculation about plastic surgery.
Adding to the internet buzz, news host Megyn Kelly critiqued Moriarty on her show, comparing her to Kim Kardashian and alleging cheek implants. Kelly intended to critique women altering their natural appearance.
Moriarty responded with a lengthy post, expressing her dismay over Kelly’s comments and the widespread nature of the criticism. She addressed the bullying, verbal abuse, and false information she’s faced, calling out the irony of such comments under the guise of feminism. Emphasizing the impact of such words, Moriarty announced a social media hiatus.
In a detailed post, Moriarty expressed, We’re all subject to levels of bullying throughout our lives but I am horrified, and I felt that I deserved to take a second to address these things. To receive a message about a disgustingly false, counterproductive to the degree of being ironically misogynistic video of Megyn Kelly commenting on the manner – to learn the widespread nature of this has left me horrified. There’s no excuse for these horrific allegations, the verbal abuse that I have had to delete, and genuinely false information that is being used to perpetuate a message that is exhibitionist feminism. You don’t have to believe me when I say these videos are absolutely false. You never know what someone is going through … and irregardless, there is no excuse for the words that have been spoken directly to be or about me.”
Since launching her YouTube show, Megyn Kelly has enjoyed the freedom to shape her journalistic style. While covering political topics, she often targets celebrities she disagrees with. Kelly has shown a readiness to confront various public figures, marking her first direct interaction with Moriarty through these recent comments.
