British-Pakistani Formula racer Enaam Ahmed recorded the third-fastest time in the morning session at the renowned Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course.
The 2.4-mile track features 14 challenging corners where top racers compete. The test was in preparation for Round 2 of the Firestone Indy NXT Championship.
Despite a cold morning and an hour’s delay, 20 drivers returned to business. Ahmed’s impressive time of 1:14.86 came while competing against several experienced racers. New Zealand’s Hunter McElrea set the fastest time of 1:14.62.
Ahmed is receiving support from US-based Pakistani professionals aiming to see him compete in the Indianapolis 500 in 2024. His next race is on April 30 at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama.
At 23, Ahmed is a World Karting Champion and Pakistan’s first high-level Formula Championship winner. He holds the record for most victories in a single British Formula 3 season, surpassing Ayrton Senna’s record.
Enaam Ahmed displays Pakistani and British flags on his car; Ahmed has been making a name for himself in motorsport since he was 14. Born in London to Pakistani parents, his passion for racing began at age eight, and by 14, he was a European and world champion.
