Emma Dumont, known for their role in the blockbuster ‘Oppenheimer‘, has publicly come out as transmasculine non-binary. The actor has adopted a new name, Nick Dumont, for personal interactions while using Emma Dumont professionally.
At 30, Dumont played Cillian Murphy’s sister-in-law Jackie in Oppenheimer. Recently, they announced the change through an Instagram Story, indicating the adoption of “they/them” pronouns and the new name, Nick.
Despite this personal change, Dumont will maintain their stage name for professional purposes. “They identify as a trans masculine non-binary person. While they will use Emma Dumont in their work, Nick will be the name used with friends and family,” a representative explained to TMZ.
Dumont’s most recent Instagram post on December 3 featured a slideshow of themselves but did not publicly address the change.
Transmasculine describes individuals assigned to females at birth who identify with masculinity, encompassing transgender males and non-binary individuals.
Career Highlights: Born Emma Noel Roberts, Dumont has accrued over 25 acting credits since 2009, with ‘Oppenheimer’ a notable recent role. Prior roles include Polaris in ‘The Gifted’ and a 2017 appearance in ‘Pretty Little Liars’. Dumont is also set to appear in the upcoming thriller ‘New Me’, still credited as Emma Dumont.
