The emirs of Kuwait and Qatar have accepted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s invitation to visit Pakistan.
During separate meetings with the ambassadors of Kuwait and Qatar, Prime Minister Shehbaz received letters from the emirs of both countries.
Kuwait’s Ambassador Nasir Abdul Rahman Jasir Al-Mutairi presented a letter from Emir Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. The Qatari Ambassador delivered a letter from Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, confirming acceptance of the premier’s visit invitation at “mutually agreed dates.”
The prime minister expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s fraternal relations with Qatar and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening cooperation.
He said both sides should start preparations by exchanging delegations to ensure the visit’s success and mutual benefits.
Receiving the letter from Kuwait’s ambassador, the prime minister recalled his recent meeting with the Kuwaiti Emir at the World Economic Forum on April 28, 2024. He expressed satisfaction that the next Pakistan-Kuwait Joint Ministerial Commission meeting would be held in Kuwait on May 28-30.
Palestine
PM Shehbaz appreciated Norway’s decision to recognize the state of Palestine amid Israel’s military aggression.
He hoped Norway, Spain, and Ireland’s bold decision to recognize Palestine would encourage other countries to follow suit.
The premier wrote on social media platform X about his telephonic conversation with his Norwegian counterpart, Jonas Gahr Store. He welcomed the recent ICJ decision ordering Israel to halt its actions in Gaza and Rafah.
PM Shehbaz hoped the international community would pay similar attention to the plight of innocent Kashmiris, facing brutal occupation for the past 76 years. In a related post, the premier said they discussed Pakistan-Norway ties during his conversation with his Norwegian counterpart and expressed a desire to strengthen their relations, especially in trade and investment.
