Elon Musk’s social network, X, previously known as Twitter, will introduce a feature to summarize news events within the app “Stories,” which will utilize Grok, an AI chatbot developed by xAI, another of Musk’s ventures.
Unlike its predecessor, Moments, which relied on human moderators, Stories will generate summaries based on user tweets. Initially, these summaries will not cite news outlets, though Musk has indicated that improvements in citation are expected.
On Friday, the company revealed that this feature would be exclusive to premium subscribers. Musk discussed these developments with the tech newsletter Big Technology, noting that the summaries would be updated as new information becomes available.
Grok, central to this feature, operates independently under xAI and leverages data from posts on X for training.
Previously, X offered a similar service called Moments, discontinued shortly after Musk acquired the platform in late 2022.
Additionally, Musk postponed a trip to India, where he was expected to meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and announce market entry plans. Citing significant responsibilities at Tesla, Musk expressed his intent to reschedule the visit later in the year.
