After U.S. Presidential candidate Donald Trump mentioned he might consider offering Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk an advisory role in his administration, Musk responded with a social media post indicating his openness to serve.
The post depicted Musk in front of a podium titled “Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE),” playfully referencing Dogecoin, the cryptocurrency that started as a meme.
The interaction followed Trump’s comments during a campaign stop in Pennsylvania, where he criticized the $7,500 tax credit for electric vehicle purchases and suggested he might eliminate it if re-elected. “Tax credits and tax incentives are generally not a very good thing,” Trump stated.
When probed about potentially appointing Musk to a specific role, Trump expressed high regard for Musk’s capabilities, saying, “He’s a very smart guy. I certainly would if he did it. He’s a brilliant guy.”
While Musk endorsed Trump for the presidency last month, he has not directly commented on whether he would accept such an offer. Nonetheless, his recent post on X has fueled speculation about his possible role in a future Trump administration.
