A local election tribunal earlier today declared null and void the voting results in PP-97 and ordered reelection on 33 polling stations in the Punjab Assembly constituency won by ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s candidate in Gujranwala city of Punjab.
The tribunal issued its orders on a petition filed by PML-Q’s Hamid Chima who had challenged victory of PML-N’s Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf Warraich, claiming vote rigging in the election.
After finding clear evidence of rigging, the tribunal invalidated voting results in PP-97 (Gujranwala-VII) and directed authorities to hold reelection on 33 polling stations.
