Security forces neutralized at least eight terrorists, including a key figure responsible for the Mir Ali attack, in an intelligence-driven operation in North Waziristan District on the night between March 17 and 18, according to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Monday.
The military’s media arm reported that the operation was launched based on intelligence about the terrorists’ location.
The ISPR detailed that the operation resulted in the elimination of eight terrorists during a fierce gunfight, including the high-value target, terrorist commander Sehra, also known as Janan. This commander was notably involved in the attack on a security forces’ post in Mir Ali on March 16 and was a significant figure sought after by law enforcement agencies.
The statement also highlighted ongoing sanitization operations aimed at clearing the area of any remaining threats as Pakistani Security Forces continue their relentless effort to eradicate terrorism from the country.
On a related note, the ISPR recounted the brave sacrifice of at least seven Pakistan Army soldiers, including a lieutenant colonel and captain, who fell martyr during a confrontation with terrorists attacking a security post in Mir Ali, North Waziristan, on Saturday.
According to the military’s media wing, a contingent of six terrorists launched an assault early Saturday, initially being repelled by Pakistani troops. The attackers then executed a suicide bombing using an explosive-laden vehicle against the post, followed by several suicide bombings that caused part of a building to collapse, leading to the soldiers’ martyrdom.
The following clearance operation saw the Pakistani troops, led by Lieutenant Colonel Kashif, successfully engaging and eliminating all six attackers.
