The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is scheduled to convene in Islamabad on Tuesday, April 9, to observe the Shawwal moon for Eid ul Fitr.

The ministry highlighted that the sighting would conclude Ramadan, potentially setting Eid ul Fitr for Wednesday, April 10. Eid celebrations would shift to Thursday if the moon remained unseen on Tuesday.

Additionally, parallel sessions of zonal and district Ruet-e-Hilal Committees will take place on Tuesday evening, following Asr prayers.

The meeting will see participation from members of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, representatives from the meteorology department, the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco), and the Ministry of Science and Technology, gathering moon sighting testimonies.

The government has predetermined Eid ul Fitr holidays, scheduling three public holidays from April 10 to 12 for offices operating five days a week and four holidays from April 10 to 13 for those operating six days a week.

The Meteorological Department has predicted a high likelihood of Eid ul Fitr commencing on April 10, anticipating the Shawwal moon’s visibility on April 9. The crescent, expected to form on April 8 at 11:21 pm, will be visible for approximately 50 minutes at sundown the following day, indicating the onset of Shawwal.
