The Ministry of Interior has officially dismissed rumours that the federal government declared a four-day holiday for Eid ul Fitr, emphasizing that a decision on this matter is still pending.
Recent buzz on social media featured a fraudulent notification suggesting that a public holiday from April 9 to April 12, 2024, was authorized, referencing a supposed cabinet division circular.

Nevertheless, on Sunday, the ministry’s spokesperson denounced the notification as “fake,” clarifying that the federal government has yet to finalize plans for the Eid ul Fitr holidays. The spokesperson assured us that a formal notification would be issued to the public once a decision was reached.
In a separate development, the Punjab government has taken a different approach by announcing a nine-day holiday for Daanish schools in observance of Eid ul Fitr, starting April 6.
A notification released on Saturday detailed that these educational institutions will shut their doors from April 6 through April 14. This initiative follows the customary practice of initiating Eid holidays earlier than expected, allowing individuals ample time for festive preparations and engagement in celebratory events.
