Pakistan Meteorological Department has announced that the Zil Hajj moon is expected to be sighted on June 7, with the new moon being born on June 6.
As Pakistanis prepare for Eid ul Adha by purchasing sacrificial animals, an official from the Pakistan Meteorological Department confirmed that the new moon, which marks the beginning of the new Islamic month, will be born at precisely 5:38 PM on June 6.
“There are strong chances of the moon being sighted on June 7, as by then, it will be more than 26 hours old,” the Chief Meteorologist stated.
The Islamic lunar calendar concludes with Zil Hajj when Muslims worldwide travel to Saudi Arabia to perform the Hajj. During this month, Muslims celebrate Eid ul Adha by sacrificing cattle in their respective countries.
