Eddie Murphy will receive a lifetime achievement award at the Golden Globes next month.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which votes on Globe winners, announced Murphy’s honor on Wednesday.
Murphy, 61, starred in “Beverly Hills Cop,” “The Nutty Professor,” “48 Hours,” and “Dreamgirls.”
Oprah Winfrey, Meryl Streep, Sophia Loren, Tom Hanks, Jane Fonda, and Robert De Niro won.
Murphy’s accolade boosts the January 10 Globes telecast. It’s unclear which nominees will attend the star-studded, alcohol-fueled extravaganza that starts Hollywood’s awards season.
A 2021 LA Times investigation discovered the HFPA has no Black members, tainting the Globes.
NBC dropped the 2022 telecast but will screen the Globes again in 2023 after reforms.
