Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) snubbed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday in response to a letter by the PTI chief calling for the resignation of ECP officials.
Following the report by the three-judge poll inquiry commission, the PTI chairman had written a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner calling for action against ECP officials and Returning Officers.
The ECP wrote in its response to the PTI today that the commission is an independent, constitutional body and is not answerable to any political party.
The letter says that the ECP is not liable to give any explanation to PTI chief Imran Khan.
PTI leader Naeemul Haq confirmed that the party had received the ECP’s letter. We are reviewing the contents of the letter and will issue a response by this evening, he said.
