The Election Commission of Pakistan earlier today announced the schedule for the second phase of local government elections to be held in Sindh and Punjab provinces.
According to the schedule announced by the ECP, polling in the second phase of elections will take place on November 19.
Nomination papers will be received from September 13 to 17, while scrutiny of the papers will be carried out from Sept 26 to October 1.
Appeals against nominations will be received until Oct 6, while appeals will be decided by the tribunals by Oct 12. The last date for withdrawal of candidature will be Oct 13, after which the revised final list of candidates along with electoral symbols will be announced on Oct 14.
In Punjab, polling will be held on Nov 19 in Khanewal, Sahiwal, Toba Tek Singh, Chiniot, Sargodha, Mianwali, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, M.B.Din, Attock and Jhelum districts.
In Sindh, polling will be held in Matiari, Tando Allah Yar, Tando Mohammad Khan, Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, Hyderabad, Dadu, Jamshoro, Benaziriabad, Naushero Feroz, Sanghar, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot and Tharparkar districts on Nov 19.
Polling in the remaining districts of the two province will be held earlier on Oct 31 in the first phase of the local bodies’ elections.
