The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) approved Rs15 billion for the Pakistan Election Commission (ECP) for the current fiscal year 2022-23.
The decision was made at a meeting chaired by Ishaq Dar, the federal minister for finance and revenue.
Nota bene: Rs5 billion will be provided immediately, while the remaining Rs10 billion will be released after the first tranche has been utilized.
Previously, the ECC had deferred an Rs47 billion payment to the ECP for the next general election, sources said Geo News on November 25, adding that the ECP would submit a summary for the technical grant once again.
In addition, the ECC considered the summary of the Kissan Package given by the Ministry of National Food Security and Research and approved a reduction in the base tariff for electric tube wells from R16.60/kWh to Rs13/kWh.
