A powerful 6.7-magnitude earthquake struck the eastern region of the Philippines, causing fear and panic in several areas.
According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake’s epicentre was located about 68 kilometres east of Baculin.
The USGS said the earthquake originated at a shallow depth of 10 kilometres. As a result, tremors were felt across a wide area.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology warned residents to remain alert. Authorities cautioned that aftershocks and minor damage could follow.
PHIVOLCS reported at least six aftershocks by 11:25 am local time. Their intensity decreased steadily. The recorded magnitudes ranged from 3.9 to 2.1.
Officials have not issued any tsunami warning. Monitoring remains ongoing as authorities assess the situation. Residents in affected areas have been advised to stay cautious and follow safety guidelines.
