Asif Ali Zardari, co-chairman of the PPP, stated that holding early general elections would be detrimental to the PTI and democracy.
The former president stated in an interview with a private television station on Thursday that the PDM, a coalition of more than a dozen government partners, had agreed to file a vote of no confidence in the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) assemblies.
Asif Ali Zardari stated that if the PTI succeeds in dissolving the Punjab and KP assemblies, the PPP will fight elections and select as many MPAs the PTI can elect.
If the assemblies are not dissolved, they will continue to play the role of the opposition, he continued.
Asif Ali Zardari’s statement came when PTI legislators in Punjab announced the dissolving of the provincial legislature. The development occurred when a high-level committee of the PTI submitted a report to Khan regarding the dissolution of the Punjab Assembly.
Local news channel “Geo News” claimed that the PTI legislators have also urged Imran Khan not to dissolve the provincial assemblies, citing current development initiatives in their respective constituencies.
