Dubai’s airports have issued advisories anticipating heavy rains, warning passengers of possible delays.
The Dubai International (DXB) and Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) advisory recommends that travellers plan their trips carefully. “We advise guests to use smart apps for traffic updates and consider the Dubai Metro for travel to DXB Terminals 1 and 3 to avoid road congestion,” a Dubai Airports spokesperson told Khaleej Times.
Additionally, an Emirates airline spokesperson highlighted the risk of thunderstorms on May 2, suggesting extra travel time and the use of Dubai Metro to mitigate road delays.
This advisory aligns with a broader alert from the United Arab Emirates for medium to heavy rainfall expected to begin Wednesday evening. In response, the National Disaster Management Authority has suggested remote work for both private and government sectors during this period of inclement weather.
Schools in Sharjah and Dubai have switched to distance learning in anticipation of the storm. A Flydubai spokesperson also advised passengers to allow additional travel time on May 2 and to keep contact details updated via their booking management systems to receive the latest flight information.
