The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) investigating the murder of Dr Warda has submitted its final report to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, marking a major step forward in the high-profile case.
Dr Warda, a physician at Benazir Shaheed District Hospital, went missing on December 4, 2025. Investigators allege that her friend Rida Jadun abducted her and later murdered her with the assistance of accomplices Nadeem, Parvez, and Shamrez.
After authorities recovered Dr Warda’s body, medical professionals staged protests outside Ayub Teaching Hospital, demanding swift justice and accountability.
Sources familiar with the investigation said the JIT clearly identified police officers whose negligence contributed to the case. A member of the investigation team confirmed that the responsibility for determining punishments now rests with the provincial government.
Speaking to the media, Ishaq Zakaria stated that Rida remains the principal accused in the murder. He said the report recommends penalties for police officials based on each individual’s level of responsibility and failure to act.

Zakaria also disclosed that Shamrez operated as a hired assassin. Evidence showed that Rida and her husband, Haider, maintained contact with Shamrez through mobile phones registered in the names of their employees.
The submission of the JIT report shifts the spotlight to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, which must now decide on disciplinary action and legal accountability. The case continues to draw public attention, with medical professionals and civil society closely watching the government’s next steps.
